Synopsis: “Shogun” is a historical drama set in feudal Japan during the 1600s, at the beginning of the Battle of Sekigahara. The strongest military commander of the Sengoku period, Lord Yoshii Toranaga, faces an approaching enemy siege. In the midst of this turmoil, a British navigator named James Blackthorne arrives on shore with secrets that could save Toranaga. Mariko, a mysterious noblewoman who can speak English, is ordered to translate for Blackthorne, who is later known as Anjin. As the war wages on, a bond forms between the two as they navigate through the treacherous political landscape and are caught in a power struggle between two powerful daimyōs. Based on the novel “Shogun” by James Clavell, this 10-episode drama airs on Tuesdays.
