  1. ah so from the comments it’s the FL disguised as a man plot. Didn’t catched that by reading the synopsis. Don’t know why, but I kinda dislike this kind of plot, whether it’s a cdrama or a kdrama. I dropped so many. But feel like a kdrama it can be better because it’s more short, so maybe I would give this drama a chance since the synopsis seems interesting + it’s an historical drama, but at the same time not sure about the leads.

  2. I am really excited for this but why does Korea have make everything look pretty they didn’t try very hard to make her look like a man ???

  3. I saw the poster and then I saw who was the fl. My excitement when from a solid 9 to 1 😕 .

  4. Tbh I saw the first two episodes and I kinda enjoyed it I am definitely going to watch more. To me, ML is not a typical kdrama beauty standard (with the beard in future episodes? Sign me up) and I find myself liking that. Ofc the FL pretending to be a man is extremely obvious, but I can pass it as a artistic choice and it does not bother me that much.

  5. Honestly, this is one of the worst sageuk dramas I have ever seen. The beginning bit before he became a king was actually kinda cute (romance-wise) and made sense but with each episode, I feel like the king’s character doesn’t have consistency. He is kind one moment and a tyrant the next. Other characters (like the queen or the main minister) are supposed to be well-versed in politics, yet they fail to see the obvious moves of their opponents. I believe both actors were well-picked, but I take issue with the way this drama was written. It just feels shallow despite the decent cinematography.
If you compare this with something like My Dearest, it’s 0 to 100. How can you use the most devastating historical eras in Korean history and just brush over all the horrifying atrocities the Qing did? It feels shallow, performative and lacks depth.
I will not be continuing this despite giving it a chance for 8 episodes.
