Synopsis: In “Onihei Hankacho,” a drama set in the Edo Period, Ono Juzo of the Arson and Theft Control Division comes across a situation involving a wanted thief, Sukejiro, who has been killed by his pregnant wife, Ofuji. Out of sympathy for the wife, Juzo conceals the dead body and ensures her safety. However, his actions are soon complicated by the arrest of Kobusa no Kumehachi, a member of the same thief gang led by Nozuchi no Yahei. Another gang member, Ogawaya Umekichi, claims to have kidnapped Ofuji and demands the release of Kumehachi in exchange for her safety. Based on the novel series by Ikenami Shotaro, “Onihei Hankacho” follows the story of Juzo as he navigates the treacherous world of thieves and criminals in Edo.
