  2. Can anyone explain how he solved the question of his teacher?
    The question is “20% chance you know the question, and 40% chance of getting wrong, what is the percentage you will stay safe? THE ANSWER is 11%. How did it become 11%?

    1. The nerdy guy said 11% because there was 11% chance of them staying safe. It also means that he didn’t think they’d be safe xD He didn’t get the answer by doing it mathematically. He just acted like he did

    1. There’s a mistake in the translation, it’s not 11% but 12% (they sound very similar)
      Let’s say:
      A – they know the question
      B – they know the answer to the question
      The probability of them answering the question cerrectly if they the question is 60% (100% – 40%(getting the aswer wrong)) (P(B) if A is a certain event)
      The probability of them knowing the question is 20% (P(A))
      So the probability o them knowing the question AND the right answer is P(A)*P(B) if A is a certain event, 20%*60%=12%
